Welcome to the official website of My Summers On Hemingway Road by Alicia Hein Cook.  The book all began with a poem (as it does in published form) written by the author while in in high school.  It then became a labor of love over many years and is now marking its 8th year in print.  Ordering information is available with one click on The Book link.

Based on fond childhood memories set in beautiful Charlevoix and Emmet Counties in northwestern lower Michigan, the book encompasses happy experiences of the author, her family and neighbors who spent summers on the lakeside road.

Hemingway Road was so named after Ernest Hemingway’s uncle, George, who purchased a large land parcel not far from the Ironton ferry, where he operated a tree farm. The “nursery” has long been closed, but the unique 4-car ferry made famous by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, remains in operation today.
